Embrace Doha holds 8-day National Day Festival at Katara

Embrace Doha, a Qatari company specialising in cultural events, held an eight-day National Day Festival aimed at showing support to Qatar amid the current blockade by offering a unique blend of events and activities to visitors at the Cultural Village Foundation – Katara from December 12 to 19, 2017.


The festival, called “Labaih Ya Amir” (Here I am at your service, O Emir) comprised of four sections, with various entrepreneurial youth projects such as cooking in clay ovens; child talent shows and intellectual competitions held on stages in which various schools participated; the cultural tent in which visitors were served tea and coffee; and a corner for Henna and Arabic Calligraphy.


“Last year it was purely cultural, but this year we are including local startups in response to Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s speech to build the country’s economy through innovation, self-reliance, and independence,” said Amal Al Shammari, CEO of Embrace Doha.

GWC receives CSR Leadership award during National CSR Report Launch

GWC (Q.P.S.C.), Qatar’s leading logistics provider, was recognized for its continuing efforts in serving the local community during the launch ceremony of the fifth edition of the National CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) Report, held on Monday, March 21, 2017 during Qatar University’s CSR Exhibition and Conference. The Qatar CSR Report monitors and evaluates the progress made each year in the area of sustainable development in society, with a particular focus on CSR and contributions to the Qatar National Vision 2030. A CSR award ceremony honoring those who have made significant contributions to these causes was held during the conference, attended by a number of dignitaries, industry experts, and ambassadors. During the award ceremony, GWC Senior Corporate Communications Manager Mr. Mohammad Daoud received the CSR Leadership award on behalf of the Company from Qatar University president Dr. Hassan Al Derham.


“GWC understands that part of achieving its purpose in supporting the Qatar National Vision 2030 is attending to the aims of its social pillar, and we have therefore participated in a variety of initiatives to ensure the development of a just and caring society based on high moral standards,” stated GWC Senior Corporate Communications Manager Mr. Mohammad Daoud.


GWC participated in a wide variety of initiatives and programs since its inception, with a focus on youth, health and heritage grounds.


“GWC’s strong nationalistic orientation coheres strongly to the societal ideals put forth in the National Vision and finds expression in the varied initiatives it supports towards cultivating the spirit of service to community that it promotes both within and outside the company,” stated GWC Chairman Sheikh Abdullah bin Fahad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani.


These events took place after a year of achievement, as the company had earned net registered an increase of 11% in its net profits in 2016. The company has maintained its growth by increasing its operational efficiencies, improving its profit margins, and actively seeking new revenue streams, drawing in gross revenues of QAR 849.5 million at the end of 2016, representing 8% increase from QAR 787.9 million in 2015. The company’s assets continued to develop, with total assets reaching QAR 3.741 billion by the end of December 2016.

GWC emphasizes employee wellness through health check campaign

GWC (Q.S.C.), Qatar’s leading logistics provider, has offered its employees a free health check through an initiative held in cooperation with Naseem Al Rabeeh Medical Centre.


Entitled “GWC Wellness Day”, employees were invited to check their blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and height and weight with medical professionals at the company’s headquarters in D-Ring Road. Based on the evaluation received, the medical professionals advised the employee whether or not they should seek further follow-up with a doctor.


This event was the second of a series in GWC, with the first being held in the company’s Logistics Village Qatar (LVQ) in September 2016, with 410 employees participating in both events. The series will continue with an upcoming Wellness Day planned for the Street 15 facility in the coming months.
